"a person can only take so much"... is this true? should i take more?

-looking back over 6 months, i find that i've come across more than 20 ppl in an effort to build a relationship w/one of them, or solid friendships w/one or more of them, and out of the 20 (or more) ppl i met, i am in contact w/only one... and even she's hanging on a thin thread. -for some reason these ppl have all been shady in some way or another and since i refuse to deal w/it, i waste not time asking them to lose my #. -i'm worried that i'm being too uptight and that i should be accepting of certain things b/c nothing's perfect. --SHOULD I BE TOLERATING A BIT MORE FROM POTENTIAL FRIENDS OR LOVERS? -has ur friendships/relationships endured certain bad issues that u felt u had an obligation to deal w/ b'cz u wanted that friendship/potential mate?
