Could I wear a black suit with a plain white t shirt?

Im going to a small wedding and its not too formal. My uncle and dad will be going in the "typical" shirt tie and trousers combo. I want to be a little different and would like to know if i could wear a simple black suit jacket and matching trousers with a plain whit t shirt? I just wanted to be a little different. Would this style/combo work or is it not enough? what else could I add?
